As a LGBTQ man, it was important for me to find a therapist who I could work with that had a good understanding of our community. A friend referred me to Frank and I started working with him around my problems with anxiety. He was (and has been) really amazing. I learned new techniques for getting through really difficult times and gained new insights into myself as well. It helps a lot that I can do some sessions through video and others in person (I travel a lot for work). I highly recommend 2nd Story Counseling and particularly Frank!

I needed a queer therapist to help me figure out some relationship and family issues. A friend of mine recommended Tom and I decided to give it a try. After a few sessions, I really started to feel better about myself and some of the problems I was having with my partner and my family. One of the big things I learned to do is stop engaging in self-criticism. I didn't realize I was doing it so much but I was! I still have my struggles, but I am so much better off now than when I first walked through the door.

After the death of my spouse, I needed a therapist to help me with the serious grief and loss issues. I felt so hopeless that I didn't want to do anything. My coworker told me about Laura so I decided to reach out. We met in person at first, sometimes twice a week, and I slowly started to crawl out of my depression. Over time, we transitioned to virtual sessions once a week. Laura helped me to bring meaning to my husband's loss and figure out that grief is different for everyone. I feel like she was compassionate, understanding and caring and truly feel I experienced healing.
